Vermilion Bird of South called Zhū Què in China, which rules over Southern direction and represents Fire element, Summer and the virtue knowledge. Often paired with the dragon, for the two represent both conflict and wedded bliss; dragon (emperor) and phoenix (empress). Suzaku only appears in times of good fortune. It's often confused with a Fenghuang (Chinese Phoenix) due to their similar appearances. After Daoism became popular, Vermillion Bird was given human name Ling Guang 陵光
